About this work

“Inspired by the playfulness of digital physics and simulated inflations, these physical objects attempt to defy realism through trompe l’oeil creases, colour and texture.”

“A series representing moments of suspended animation, inflation, buoyancy and collapse, trapped in time and turned to stone.”

“This collection is intended as decorative sculpture for the home, each piece individually hand-cast in plaster to maintain a uniqueness lost through 3D printing.”

The artist

 

Lucy Hardcastle

Lucy Hardcastle is an interdisciplinary designer and digital artist. Her work focuses on tactility, visual illusions and sensual aesthetics through digital rendered pieces, sculpture, set design and moving image. 

Led by the artist, Lucy Hardcastle Studio is her eponymous multi-disciplinary design practice – a pioneer in using interactive technologies, 3D visuals and the moving image to tell complex and emotionally resonant stories for clients including the V&A and Chanel.

Her works highlight tensions between physical and virtual worlds and experiences and aims to reconnect users and viewers with the material world through symbolism and metaphor.

Delivery
