About this work
The latest series of paintings from artist Inès Tahiri-Alaoui explores feelings of love and longing through minimal organic compositions. Guided by her personal lived experience of the last year, the recent collection celebrates rejoining loved ones after spending significant time apart.
“This collection was very much guided by feelings of rejoining after being separated from the ones we love and care about. The proximities of the various shapes illustrate this notion of being apart from the ones you love and then coming together.”
“Often, an idea for a painting is born when I feel a certain way. To illustrate and comprehend that feeling I will sketch a painting in my mind, which is subsequently translated onto paper. My work is continually inspired by everyday feelings that we encounter.”

Inès Tahiri-Alaoui
Inès Tahiri-Alaoui is an artist recognised for her neutral abstract and figurative paintings. She creates serene, minimal compositions, frequently working with a tonal palette of warm browns paired with monochromes. Her original painted pieces convey a certain softness and sense of calm, featuring simplistic shapes relating to nature and the female form.
Originally from Morocco and France, the self-taught painter is now based in the UK – where she splits her time between fashion and art. Her paintings are original works on paper, created as part of an ongoing exploration of the artist’s interest in abstract expression.
